India, part one

Been in India for almost 24 hours and it has been nothing short of amazing and staggering and mind boggling. The masses of people is almost too much to take in and the beggars are everywhere. We are not able to give them money because most of them are “owned” by someone like in the movie Slumdog Millionaire. The ministry we are getting to see is equally mind boggling … people are being reached with the good news of Jesus (a personal God who loves them and died for them) through personal one on one contact. We heard testimony after testimony at church this morning of someone who came to know Christ because they were sick or hurting and a follower of Christ came to them and prayed for them. God healed them and they were drawn to Christ. We heard testimonies of people who’s families had disowned them for claiming Christ but they were resolute in wanting to share how Christ had changed their life.

I was always asked to preach in a church service (on the spur of the moment) and it was a blast. It was amazing to watch God give me words to share when I didn’t really know the people.

Tomorrow – we’re off to a new city … Varanasi, on the Ganges River.
